"On Monday May 17, Singers Room and The Garner Circle organized and hosted a Live Event in Atlanta, Georgia, which featured performances from the Legendary -“Teedra Moses”, So So Def’s- “Dondria”, Former Danity Kane member- “D. Woods” and Newcomer “Jaiden”. Each performer rocked the venue, and left the large crowd wanting for me. Maybe it’s bias since we interviewed Dondria on this site before, but aside from Teedra Moss, I’m going to say Dondria had one of the best performances of the night. Check out a couple of pictures.

So over this past weekend, Atlanta radio personality, Ryan Cameron, held his sprite Step off challenge. If you are familiar with the tradition of stepping, than you know it is primarily a tradition within HBCU's and their Black greeks. So what's the fuss about?..
Well an all white sorority won the top prize of $100,000 in cash, prizes, scholarships. This has caused a lot of controversy among mainly African Americans who attended the event. Even some claiming that "they stole our tradition"???(nonsense)..

Let's remember, this same type of minor outrage happened when a white student was named valedictorian at the historical black college of More-house.

I really don't care too much for stepping, but in my opinion, If you can step, you can step, doesn't matter what color you are. Don't be mad at them, Step your skills up next time.

DC Sniper Executed!

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- John Allen Muhammad, the mastermind of the 2002 sniper attacks that terrorized the suburbs of the nation's capital, was scheduled to die by lethal injection Tuesday evening at a state prison near Jarratt, Virginia.
Muhammad, 48, has chosen his final meal, but has requested that it not be made public, said Larry Traylor, spokesman for the Virginia Department of Corrections.
Muhammad continued to profess his innocence during two lengthy trials -- including one featuring testimony from young accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo -- and in several years of legal appeals.
He repeated his assertion that he was an innocent victim of racial bias in a letter to the federal court released last week by his attorneys. Muhammad charged that police and prosecutors "lied to the American people" about his case and withheld evidence that could clear him.

Former Badboy Artist was scheduled to be released yesterday but the courts put a stop to that very quickly.

"Representatives for the rapper revealed to MTV News that the Brooklyn MC is being detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at an unspecified facility in Western New York State. Officials are determining whether or not to deport the rapper, who was born in Belize, a rep explained.

“Shyne is currently in federal custody while his future immigration status is determined,” the rep said in a message to MTV News. Shyne attorney Oscar Michelen emphasized to MTV News on Tuesday afternoon that Shyne has not been released, contrary to media reports.

At press time, the status of Shyne’s release from prison remained unclear. "

I think it's fair to say the buzz on him right now doesn't exist. I mean what do you expect when your buzz is being drowned out by the likes of Drake, Kid Cudi and newcomer J.Cole?

Again, one can't take away from his production, he is superb on the boards, but as far as an executive, I sure as hell wouldn't want him promoting my project. Look what he did with Janet Jackson's- "Discipline" album. By Janet's standards, the album was a flop.

Let's expand our knowledge people.

Pat: Hello Katie, could you briefly tell us when you began your start in politics?

Katie: In the 2000 presidential election, I started to watch the news with my parents and realized that I had a lot of opinions. As a democrat, I was very upset with the results of that election. I decided that I needed to get involved. I started several progressive groups at my high school, and eventually got involved with the Young Democrats of Georgia in m last year of high school and first year of college.

Pat: I am assuming YDG is part of a larger network known as College Democrats of America. What is the platform of young democrats? Is it any different than the overall platform of democrats in general?

Katie: The Young Democrats of Georgia is a chapter of the Young Democrats of America, and our college caucus is a part of the College Democrats of America. The system is very complicated! We have a platform, written at every level, i.e. YDA has one and YDG has its own. These are generally written by committee and revised every year.
The Young Dems platforms are generally much more liberal and socially progressive than the Democratic Party’s platform. They are constrained by the politics of Congress, whereas we are free to be more idealogical.
On today’s hot button issues, we fully support health care reform, specifically with a strong public option. We support legalizing gay marriage and ending the current wars. There are lots of specific planks which can be found in the 2008 Platform at: http://www.georgiayds.org/more/index.cfm?Fuseaction=Member_Resource&section=more_4439

Pat: In the last election, Georgia was 200k votes short of becoming a win for President Obama, probably the closest margin ever in a very long time. What role did YDG have in helping get out the vote this past election?

Katie: YDG received a grant in 2007 to help in our efforts to just that. We set our goal to contact and involve 30 thousand people over the course of 3 years. In 2007, we contacted and involved 5 thousand young people. In 2008, that number increased to 10 thousand. Specifically for the last presidential election, we set up a massive voter registration starting in January for the democratic primary. We registered several thousand young voters between January and October. Additionally, we conducted a pledge to vote drive. We collected information and vote pledges from thousands. In examining the voter file this spring, we found that many of the pledges we collected were fulfilled. That analysis is still continuing.

Pat: Speaking of the last election, it seems interest in politics have increasingly grown amongst young people. I can remember pundits saying “Young people don’t really go to the polls”, but that changed last fall. How can the YDG attract and retain more young people into politics?

Katie: We’re trying to capitalize on the momentum from the last election by starting several new chapters, especially on college campuses. We’re holding a series of gubernatorial forums to keep stuff going here in Georgia. This is a huge focus for us, as it is for any progressive group, and we’re constantly working on new programs for young people.

Pat: Since this is a hot button topic right now, I have to ask your opinion on healthcare? Do you think it’s time for America to offer its citizens healthcare?

Katie: I think we have a moral imperative to provide healthcare to all our citizens, much in the same way we provide food, shelter, and education. I think it’s deplorable that we don’t already have a public option, and opposition to the public option is morally reprehensible.
Additionally, I think the breakdown of the healthcare system is symptomatic of the breakdown of the free market system. We’ve allowed corporate profits to supercede concern for our citizens.

Pat: Which candidates are you currently working with now in the state of Georgia?

Katie: Currently, there are 2 major elections in Georgia: the Atlanta mayoral/city council race in 2009, and the gubernatorial race in 2010. Constitutionally, we are prohibited from working in non-partisan and primary races. So unfortunately, we’re not working for any candidates. Several individuals are working on gubernatorial campaigns on their personal time, which we do encourage.

Pat: One final question, what are the requirements on being a part of YDG?

Katie: YDG is open to any progressive person between the ages of 14 & 40 that lives in the state of Georgia. In order to join YDG, you actually join your local chapter in your county, high school, or college. All members of chartered chapters are automatically members of YDG.

Dear Young Warriors fighting the wrong wars! Killing each other is definitely played out. Being hurt from the loss of a love one was never cool.
Dear Young Warriors fighting the wrong war! I know that feeling, that frustration with life and needing to take it out on someone, anyone. But….
We chose the dumbest things to go the hardest for. I remember seeing deaths over 8 ball jackets, fila’s, and name plate

chains. Deaths over “he say she say”!!!!! “I’m from This block or I’m from that block,” or “my moms n pops is f*cked up now the whole world gotta pay!!!”
I remember feeling like I was the hardest “n*gga” breathin. And I couldn’t wait to prove it.  But let’s think. What r we really proving?? And proving what to who?? Everybody knows Chicago breeds the strongest of the strong but I just feel, me, being ya brother from another state, feel your pain as if I grew up with you in ya very own household.
You have the ability and mindpower to change the way we are looked at. Look who’s watching us young warriors, look who’s throwin us in jail constantly, look at the ignorance in the world. Look at the racist dogs who love to see us down. Lovin to bury us in the ground or in jail where we continue this worthless war on one another. Young warriors…. We are WASTING more and more time. We gotta get on our jobs and take over the world. Cuz this movie left the theaters years ago, Juice, Menace, Boys n the Hood, Blood n Blood Out, Belly!
When we see each other why do we see hatred? Why were we born in a storm, born soldiers, WARRIORS….and instead of building each other up we are at war with each other.. May the soul of this young person find peace with the Almighty. I’m with you young warriors. You’re me and I’m you. But trust me! You are fighting the wrong war.
This sh*t sucks !!

A prolific DJ in his own right, DJ PrettyboyTank has surely made a name for himself In Atlanta, Georgia, as well as other surrounding states for his ability to liven up the clubs, break new artist, all while maintaining responsibilities he holds outside of being a DJ. I sat down with DJ PBT for a brief moment. Click “Read More” to check out the interview.

Pat: Tank, lets begin with a little background information on you. Who do you DJ for and with?

PBT: Hoodrich Ent, Fly style Music group ,The Group F.L.Y, Def Jam, DJ scream, and so on

Pat: Big things have been happening for you, most recently, your spot in Ozone Magazine. How did that come about and how do you feel about it?

PBT: Actually Ozone contacted me or whatever and said they wanted me to be in their new issue, got my info and that’s how it happened. I feel like this is a blessing and nothing else.

Pat: When did you realize that being a DJ was for you?

PBT: I knew around 6 or 7 I wanted to be a DJ, if you meet my mom she will say “he was already trying to DJ when he was one years old”, pretending to be a DJ in my room, it wasn’t sudden, I didn’t wake up one day and say I’m going to be a DJ, I guess I was born wit it.

Pat: Who is currently your favorite artist?

PBT: On a national level, drake, now Im gonna say this too, I been a Gucci fan since 05, everyone else on the bandwagon, uhh Jay-z, Outkast, I check everyday for Outkast, bigboi, andre we need you, Lets see, The usual, Kanye, Jeezy, Wayne, free TI, and that’s it, Fly of course that’s it.

Pat: What do you think of the state of Hip hop?

PBT: A lot of people say hiphop is going bubble gum, goin down the drain, but realize where It came from, it was a dance song that first came out, it was a club song, it wasn’t rapping serious, it was part of music. I feel like hiphop is in a good position, certain artist need to find they own lane tho, everyone can’t rap about Lennox mall and rockin polo, Gucci etc.

Pat: You have been instrumental in breaking Atlanta artist by introducing their records to public(F.L.Y- Swag Surfin, and etc)..Why do you think most Dj’s resist breaking records and choose to just tag on after a record becomes hot?

PBT: Imma just put this out there, A lot of these Atlanta DJ’s are scared, there losing there DJ gigs, they scared, you got to take risk, take chances, a lot Atlanta DJ’s don’t know how to do that, they scared to take chances, I’ve been lucky enough that I’ve taken the right chances, I’ve been instrumental in breaking Atlanta artist, but I don’t go around screaming that out everywhere I go.

Pat: You have been all over the U.S, What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen on the road?

PBT: Oooo I have to say Montgomery, Alabama gets it in and Tennessee, there was a situation where these chicks followed us from the hotel to the club, back to the hotel, tried to camp out in the middle hall ways of our rooms till 6 in the morning….
In Tennessee, all ima say is, if u hear about PrettyboyTank, They will tell you “second floor mafia”.
